More Unusual Baby Names

Since the task of naming babies began, parents have been able to come up with some rather unusual baby names for their little bundles of joy. If you are an expectant parent and are looking for a name for your baby that is uncommon or original, you might be able to get some ideas about what you might (or might not) want to name your baby from studying what unique baby names some other parents have come up with over the years.

Unusual baby names abound, and many come from the vivid imagination of parents who, some claim, could not possibly have been in their right minds at the time. Celebrity parents aside (most of the time we expect them to be a bit…eccentric), there are some who believe that their chosen lifestyles give them license to choose baby names that promote their beliefs. Sometimes this works; sometimes you wonder how long it will take their children to, upon becoming adults, race to the court for legal name changes. Although in a free society voicing an opinion that marijuana should be legalized is protected by the Constitution, naming children Hemp and Cannabis to further stress the point might be going a bit too far. Parents who wholeheartedly believe in the existence of extraterrestrials can surely find more subtle ways to promote their beliefs than naming their children Space and Alien.

Extremes examples aside, there are many unusual baby names that are creative and pleasant-sounding, and you should be able to find just the right one for your child. Please use your best judgment!
